Jake started racing from a tender age, travelling around the country to compete against fellow youth riders in circuit races. Showing great promise and a passion for riding his bike, he also participated in one of the most prestigious youth events in Europe – the Assen Youth Tour in Holland, something many youth riders (and their parents) strive to compete in today. He performed extremely well as a youth and junior rider, taking wins at Elite level races whilst racing on junior (restricted) gears, leading to his transition to the premier Elite Amateur team of the time, ‘Corley Cycles’ upon his entry to the senior ranks. Jake has also won many National level races where he has competed against National, World and Olympic champions. With a natural gift of being able to read any race and he’s proven time and again to be one to watch in any race situation.

Jake raced professionally for the UCI Team IG Sigma Sport in the 2012 and 2013 seasons, which gave him great insight into the higher echelons of British and UCI cycle races. He marked himself out as a criterium specialist for the team and found himself selected for most of the televised Circuit Series – The Tour Series and Elite National Circuit Series, picking up multiple top 10 placings.

In 2017 he not only scored an amazing 21 race wins, placing second in the British Cycling Elite Rankings, behind current Harry Tanfield, who would go on to ride at World Tour level. Jake won such races as the Pirelli Supercrit, held at the Birmingham NEC Cycle Show, and the John/Dulcie Walker Memorial races (taking two big race wins in two days). He was also part of the Team line up that took 1-2-3-4-5-7-9 at the Doltcini Classic.

Jake received a Degree in Sports Science from the University of Bedfordshire, completing his dissertation into “Ergogenic Aids For Improving Cycling Performance”. He took a one year hiatus from racing seriously in 2014 to continue his studies and gain a Master’s Degree in Elite Sporting Performance with his thesis on “Markers for overtraining in Athletes”.

He has 15 years of coaching experience to his name, including being the named coach for the Elite amateur Spirit Racing Team from 2015-2022, with his riders finding their way onto the podium over 200 times during this period.

Stepping away from top level racing (for now) in 2023 to further build the Ride Revolution brand, Jake has also been putting a lot his time into building our own self funded race team ‘Ride Revolution Coaching’. Jake can still be seen on the start line in numerous local and national races across multiple disciplines, but with his role now firmly focused on supporting our team riders with his vast experience rather than personal glory.

Our Head Coach is looking forward to the opportunity to impart his knowledge on the athletes of Ride Revolution. He is available to all clients, but has a particular interest in working with higher level UK and overseas road riders.
