RideRevolution welcomes not one but two new members to our coaching team!

Welcome Sian Botteley and Emily Robertson!

Sian is a well-known figure within the British cycling scene having ridden on some of the biggest women’s teams in the country. Whilst still young she has accumulated a wealth of knowledge of the sport itself and has a keen interest in helping other people’s development in cycling.

Currently riding for Brother U.K – Cycle Team OnForm for whom she is in fact racing the Women’s CiCLE Classic as this announcement is posted (27th June). Sian started cycling at a young age with Bourne Wheelers, and has racked up over 10 years’ experience in the sport. Over the years she has had some fantastic results including numerous wins in both circuit and road races, and she even threw in some grass track, mountain biking, cyclocross and track racing too.

Sian comes to RideRevolution with a great mentality and plenty of enthusiasm to aid in the progression of any rider wanting to get better results. Having been coached herself by a member of the British cycling pro peloton, she understands the need to have someone there to motivate, prepare and provide focus towards seeing their goals come to fruition.

Emily began her athletic life as a runner in 2009 when she decided that running to work in London would be faster than getting the bus! She quickly became interested in how she could improve and get faster. Her first running injury led to her buying a road bike, which in turn led her to discover that she had a natural aptitude for cycling. Clearly enjoying it, she decided to test herself at some local duathlons and time trials.

In her first full year of time trialling, she finished 2nd in the National 50-mile Championship, 3rd in the National 25-mile Championship, and in the top 10 of the British Elite Time Trial Championship against household Olympian names. Since then, she has had other top-10 results in national time trial championships whilst also maintaining her passion for running and strength and conditioning.

Her sudden, huge improvement in cycling attracted a lot of interest, and she was approached by people trying to find out her secret: her dedication and commitment, as well as her meticulous, logical approach to training using power. This was thanks to her analytical, mathematical brain. She began coaching friends in 2015 before qualifying as a Level 2 British Cycling Coach and Personal Trainer, and starting her own coaching company in 2016. She has experience in coaching cycling, running and multi-sport. She worked with Steve Abraham on his attempts to break the world month- and year-long time trial records.

With Sian focussing on all things bike and Emily offering coaching advice towards multisport events, we’re over the moon to have both of them on board to help round out RideRevolution’s performance packages.
